Sheffield Wednesday player Keiren Westwood has spoken out against claims that he turned his back on the Boys in Green.
The 31-year-old netminder has missed every camp since his last appearance in June 2015 against England at the Aviva Stadium.
The general consensus is that he has been the best goalkeeper in the English Championship but in his absence Darren Randolph took the number one shirt.
It led to speculation that Westwood was not interested in sitting on the bench for the duration of the international breaks if he was not guaranteed to be first choice.
Westwood addressed the claims in the Irish camp in CorkSheffield Wednesday's season ended in disappointment when they lost the richest game in football to Hull City - the Championship play-off.
Westwood admitted that it was an emotional day for him
