John Giles believes Real Madrid will win the Champions League final on Saturday if they play to their full potential.

The Leeds and Ireland legend joined us as always on a Thursday night and shared his concern that if Real are as lacklustre as they have been for much of the season domestically and to a lesser extent in Europe, the match against Liverpool in Kiev could prove a step too far.

Speaking to Dave, he said: "I think if Madrid play as well as they can play, I think they'll win the match because you've got Modric and Kroos in the middle of the field, and Modric in particular who can control a game. Liverpool have nobody anywhere near Modric in controlling the game. Liverpool will do what they do; it's go, go, go all the time. But if Madrid go ahead, they can manage the game. Modric can do it, Kroos can do it up to a point, but Modric in particular."

John also spoke about Unai Emery and was surprised at the tone the new Arsenal head coach took in his press conference in terms of challenging for titles as soon as possible.

"I think it's very foolish statements to make and I think he was talking about getting ready to challenge Manchester City next season... big statements to make because from Guardiola's point of view when he was coming into the Manchester City job, he was in a position of power," said John before explaining that the new structure at Arsenal means that Emery won't have the same level of power in terms of recruiting players.
