John Giles is tipping Manchester United to give Manchester City their toughest match of the season when both sides meet in the derby on Sunday.

Joining us as always on a Thursday night, the former Leeds United, Man United and Ireland midfielder tipped the red half to come out on top, although he has been hugely impressed by City going forward.

"I would have my doubts about them defending. I mean, if you go back to Mourinho's teams with Chelsea, they wouldn't be as flamboyant, they wouldn't be as attractive to watch but I would think they were better balanced between defence and attack than Guardiola," he said to Nathan.

"And that's why I'm really looking forward to the game at the weekend because United are the best equipped at the moment to give them a game and I think Man United will give them a big game.

"I don't think they'll be allowed to do some of the things that they've been doing. I've been looking forward to waiting to see but I think Manchester United will give them a much tougher game without sitting back like Huddersfield and that because Manchester United have to win this match. So I think they'll go for it.

"But I think Man United will give them the hardest game by far this season."

And on who will win the derby, he said,"I've a sneaking fancy for Man United at the weekend" as they will "ask questions of the defence" and feels the perception of Jose Mourinho as a park-the-bus merchant is "exaggerated" and that it is more a case that he can coach a team to defend effectively.
