Just like Peter O'Mahony at the end of last week, the future of CJ Stander has been resolved in Munster and Ireland's favour.

The powerhouse South African-born back-row had been linked with a lucrative move away but has chosen to sign a three year contract with the province and IRFU.

He stated that his intention was always going to be aimed towards staying at Munster and in addition the province claimed that there were no talks held with other clubs.

It's a boost for Munster's new head coach Johann van Graan as he plots a path towards a successful second half of the season and beyond.

Speaking to our own Oisin Langan, he reacted positively to the news of Stander's stay: "It's a massive boost. World class player, a fantastic individual. I've coached CJ when he was still a junior with the Bulls and coached him at Super Rugby level.

"And to see how he's grown as a man, as a husband, as a rugby player...you know, he's become Irish, he puts his body on the line every single weekend. He delivered a fantastic performance on Sunday evening. I think it was 19 ball carries again. That final steel to get us the penalty. To know he's going to be at Munster for the next three years, not only as a player but in a leadership position, he's got big dreams to go to a World Cup as well if he gets selected."
