Jamie Vardy should have seen red - Arsenal boss Arteta

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta believes Leicester striker Jamie Vardy should have been sent off in their one-all draw at the Emirates last night.

The Gunners lost striker Eddie Nketiah to a red card following a video review and Arteta feels Vardy should also have dismissed for catching Shkodran Mustafi with a stay boot late in the first half.

"I have my opinion, I prefer to keep it like this," Arteta said of the decisions.

"What I am saying is if you review incidents of that type you should review them all. If Eddie's is a red card then for sure the other is a red card.

"If Nketiah can be a red card then Leicester has to play with 10 men after 42 minutes - that has to be a red card as well."

The Arsenal boss added that England under-21 international Nketiah apologised in the dressing room and has the support of his teammates:

"He is disappointed. He said sorry. He doesn't need to do that.

"I know when he goes for every single ball it is because he is so willing to win every challenge. He is on the front foot in every action.

"He didn't see the player coming and obviously he doesn't want to hurt anybody. It is part of the process. They are really young. They need to learn from this situation and hopefully it won't happen again.

"Absolutely, I think we are going to have to support him. There are few things that happened which is why we didn't end up winning the game. It is not just that action."
