The agent of Jack Grealish appears likely to advise him to turn his back on Ireland to declare for England.

That’s after he spoke of his disappointment that Gareth Bale didn’t declare for England. Jonathan Barnett also represents the Real Madrid man.

Barnett admits that he attempted to persuade the winger to represent England, but his Welsh parents, Frank and Debbie Bale rubbished the idea of their proud Welsh son swapping allegiances to England.

Barnett said: “When we first got together when he was 15, we talked about whether he was going to play for England or Wales. I nearly got my head bitten off by his dad, who is fanatically Welsh, and his mum.

Speaking at the Soccerex Convention in Manchester he added: “He could have qualified through his grandmother and I tell you that it has cost him millions and millions of pounds.”

“You can imagine what it would have been like if he were playing for England next summer in the Euros... but he does love playing for Wales”

The Birmingham born Aston Villa winger has represented Ireland at all underage levels but he declined a call up from Martin O'Neill back in May for the Republic of Ireland senior side.

Grealish has yet to decide which country he will represent if the latest comments from his agent are any indication he’ll be advised to ditch the green and don the three lions.
