If a Republic of Ireland player, and more specifically a midfielder, turns up at an international camp without a knock - it will set alarm bells ringing for Roy Keane!

The assistant boss, a midfield warrior himself back in the day, wants to see Irish midfielders getting stuck in and that includes the main man in the Everton engine room, James McCarthy.

The Toffees player had to go for a scan on his knee yesterday after he picked up a knock in the scoreless draw against Spurs at the weekend but he trained fully with the Irish squad today.

This pleased Keane who spoke to 98FM Sport's Stephen Doyle after today's training session in Abbotstown, beginning first though with his thoughts on another Evertonian, Aiden McGeady, and his proposed loan move
