Ger Brennan won’t be playing for the Dublin footballers this season.
The two-time All-Ireland winning defender has opted-out of Jim Gavin's panel for the rest of the year.
He has been struggling with an Achilles heel injury that has kept him out of Championship action for the Dubs since the 2013 All Ireland final.
A statement from Dublin GAA has confirmed that the injury has made “steady progress”.
The statement also confirmed that the 30-year-old will “after this extended period of recovery, return to play with his club St Vincent's later in the year, and with the county team in 2016.”
