"Not buying it" - Eddie O'Sullivan rubbishes jet lag and tiredness factor after Ireland loss in Australia

Ireland's tour to Australia did not get off to the best of starts with an 18-9 defeat to the hosts in Brisbane.

But Joe Schmidt's side have the chance to start turning this series around in the next test against the Wallabies.

To sift through the issues that Ireland will have to work on after the Australia match, Joe was joined by former Ireland head coach Eddie O'Sullivan and ex-Leinster and Scotland coach Matt Williams.

On fatigue being a potential issue, Eddie said he's "not buying it" as an excuse.

"We have the best player management system in the world in Ireland. These guys are treated like royalty and they should - there's nothing wrong with it. We're doing what a lot of other unions would love to do and they can't do it," he said. 

"So we're pitching up at the end of the season, guys have been managed up to the end of the season and with the GPS, we know how many metres they've run since last August and we know how many tackles they've made. So the fatigue thing doesn't wash and neither does the jet lag."  

On the pros and cons from Ireland's perspective, Eddie added that the line-out was "excellent" but that "our defence was all over the place in that first half". He also feels most of the issues are "fixable" and also detailed the issues in Ireland's up and in defence.
