Dublin’s Allianz League campaign got off to the perfect start at Parnell Park this afternoon.

The Boys in Blue eased to a comfortable 12 point win over last year’s All-Ireland runners up Tipperary.

Dublin were dominant throughout and deserved their victory.

They were 5 points to 2 clear by the 17th minute and then put their foot on the gas.

They hit the net after an excellent move in the 18th minute.

Liam Rushe, playing at full forward, made a sweet pass inside to Eamon Dillon, who finished well past Darren Gleeson in the Tipperary goal.

That gave Dublin a 6 point lead.

They extended that to 9 points by half time- 1-11 to 5 points.

And that lead was extended even further early in the second half, with Shane Durkin, Liam Rushe and Paul Ryan knocking over quick points early on.

Tipp then came into the game somewhat, and closed the gap to 7 points with 12 minutes left.

But that was as close as the Premier County got.

Dublin’s defence snuffed out any Tipp attacks as they looked for that elusive goal.

There was a barren 9 minute spell for Dublin in the second half.

But that was ended when then they hit 3 out of 4 scores between the 26th and 30th minute.

That ensured a comfortable end to the game for the Dubs.

And Liam Rushe put the icing on the cake with the last puck of the game, scoring Dublin’s second goal in injury time.

That sealed a 2-20 to 14 point victory for the Boys in Blue.

Dublin were aided by Tipp’s wastefulness in front of goal, hitting 13 wides in all, while Dublin saw 8 attempts sail wide of the post.

Paul Ryan top scored for the Dubs with 8 points, while Eamonn Dillon hit 1-1.

It’s out of the frying pan and into the fire for Dublin next, however.

They face Kilkenny at Nowlan Park next Sunday in the second round of Allianz League games.

After the game, Dublin manager Ger Cunningham spoke to 98FM Sport's Derek Ryan about his delight at the result:

Derek Ryan also had a quick word with Dublin midfielder Danny Sutcliffe afterwards:
