St. Patrick’s Athletic have added two more players to their squad for the 2016 season.
Liam Buckley has signed Darren and Billy Dennehy.
The brothers move from Cork City.
Having won the league title (2013), the FAI Cup (2014) and the EA Sports Cup (2015), Pats will hope the Dennehys can help them win domestic silverware for a fourth successive season in a row.
Manager Liam Buckley has been busy so far this winter and is delighted to have added them to his squad, among stiff competition for their signatures.
“I’m very pleased that we will have both the lads in our group next season. They will strengthen our squad and help us compete for honours next season. Darren has really developed over the last few seasons with Cork City and is a real physical presence in defence so we are excited to add him to the squad.”
“Billy is a top professional and will be a good example to our younger players who can learn from him. He has vast experience of playing in the league and in European competition too having been at Cork, Shamrock Rovers and Derry so we know he will be a great addition.”
Squad Taking Shape
Pats have also signed Michael Barker (from Bray Wanderers), Mark Timlin (from Derry City) and Dinny Corcoran and David Cawley (both from Sligo Rovers) in recent weeks.
Former Ireland international Keith Treacy joined from Drogheda United while midfielder Graham Kelly signed from Bray Wanderers.
Defender Ian Bermingham and Brendan Clarke also signed new contracts.
It’s been a good week for St. Pats, they were among four Irish clubs who were awarded €38,970 each from UEFA’s Financial Fair Play pot.
