Leinster will be without Gordon D’Arcy for their first home game in the Guinness Pro 12. The province welcomes Cardiff Blues to the RDS on Saturday.

He’s sidelined with a shoulder injury that kept him out of the opening weekend of the new league campaign. Leinster lost to Edinburgh 16-9.

The veteran centre was not selected in Joe Schmidt’s 31 man Ireland squad for the World Cup. Ireland’s loss is Leinster’s gain as he’ll prolong his club career until October 31st.

Head coach Leo Cullen is hoping he returns soon, as his prolonged stay with the province will only cover the Rugby World Cup period.

D’Arcy is set to see a specialist to determine the extent of the damage, but it is not thought that it will keep him out for a long period.

98FM’s Darren Cleary has been speaking to the Leinster head coach Leo Cullen ahead of their game with Cardiff Blues on Saturday.
