Tyrone and Moy star Colm Cavanagh has opened up on his relationship with brother Sean, in conversation with Off the Ball’s Richie McCormack.

Colm helped his club side win the All-Ireland Club IFC title with a 1-10 to 0-07 victory against Michael Glaveys at Croke Park on Saturday.

He and Sean played key roles for Moy, in the latest chapter of their on-pitch relationship, and Colm feels it has been an important factor:

“I know whenever we need something – a ball to be won – Sean’s always going to be there to do it. That’s come to fruition a number of times this campaign.”

“To have him there does give a sense of security, almost, when we are playing the games.

Having played together for sixteen years, some might assume that Colm and Sean would be sick of the sight of each other. Not so:

“We are very close, to be honest. We live two doors apart. We travel to training and matches together. We do our separate gym work together. We do everything together, and that’s always been the way.”

As for who is the more demanding of the other on the pitch, Colm says:

“It’s probably myself... I’d probably give him a hard time quicker – he’d be a wee bit more level-headed than me. I don’t know if that’s youngest child syndrome!”
