Javier Hernandez has insisted Louis van Gaal can be successful at Manchester United- as long as he gets time.
“Chicarito” played at Old Trafford for five seasons, winning two Premier League titles.
However he was deemed surplus to requirements by Van Gaal this season and was sold to Bayer Leverkusen last August.
The Mexican has since gone on to be very successful in the Bundesliga, scoring 16 goals in 25 games so far and winning three Player of the Month awards in a row between November and January.
However, Hernandez isn’t one to hold a grudge- and he has insisted that the Dutchman can still be successful at Old Trafford.
“He is a really good manager to be honest. He has his own ways like all the managers in the world.”
“Even if you try to find the new Sir Alex Ferguson, you’re not gonna find him in the next 50 or 100 years because he was unique. He was special”.
“Van Gaal can do it but in football, time and results are going to speak about if he is the main man or if he is not”, Chicarito insisted.
He also told Sky Sports that van Gaal was up front and honest about his chances of game time.
“He just told me that my chances to play would be very hard. I appreciate that he was very honest since the beginning”.
“When I left, he told me my chances and my opportunities were going to be less because his main striker is going to be Wayne Rooney.”
“If he wasn’t fit, for example I’m gonna play, but when he was ready, he is gonna play.
