Champions League: Tottenham edge Man City

It's advantage Tottenham after the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Manchester City.

Son Heung Min scored the winner with 12 minutes of normal time to go at to seal a 1-0 win.

Manchester City had a chance to go in front in the first half when referee Björn Kuipers awarded them a penalty for a handball by Danny Rose.

But Hugo Lloris saved Sergio Aguero's penalty to keep the game scoreless.

Home side Tottenham suffered a blow just before the hour when Harry Kane suffered an ankle injury following a coming together with Fabian Delph on the sideline.

But Spurs were able to rally and notched a winning goal that needed VAR verification. Son had kept the ball in on the byline before finding space and firing a low shot under City keeper Ederson.

The home side now head to the Etihad next week, defending that narrow lead.

Meanwhile, Liverpool beat FC Porto 2-0 at Anfield to give themselves a platform ahead of the second leg in Portugal.

Naby Keita's deflected strike gave Liverpool the lead after just five minutes.

And Roberto Firmino put a gloss on the result when he tapped in Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross.
