Broadcaster Jim Sherwin passes away

Sports broadcaster Jim Sherwin has passed away. 

He was 81.

Sherwin established himself as one of RTE's leading commentators during a lengthy career.

He spent over thirty years covering rugby, with his final international match being the Six Nations clash between Ireland and Scotland in 2004.

Sherwin was also synonymous with the Olympics, working on a total of eight Olympic Games.

He also commentated on tennis for RTÉ, as well as working as a producer on various topics away from sport.

A number of figures from sport and media have paid tribute to Sherwin, who died at home with his family.
