Alan Brogan will discuss his inter county future with Dublin manager Jim Gavin this week.
There had been speculation the 3-time All-Star had called it a day last summer, after Dublin's All-Ireland semi final loss to Donegal.
Those reports proved untrue, with Brogan insisting he'd weight up his decision over the winter.
He's set to make a decision on his future over the coming days.
Alan’s brother Bernard is hoping he will stay on- “All I can say is what I've said to him, that you can retire when you think you don't have anything to add to a team or can't do anything better than anyone else".
"You don't have to be the best in the world or do everything for a team, but if you add something that's not there, in a big game or play, then you should be there.
I'm hoping that he will stay on," he added. "I've said my piece but it's down to him, and I'm sure Jim will see the merits of having a guy of his experience around."
