Venom Expert Says False Widow Spiders Have 'Taken Over' Ireland

On Dublin Talks today we spoke to Maria Condon.

She was hospitalised for six days last week after being bitten three times by a false widow spider.

We also spoke to Dr Michel Dugon, a venom expert from NUI Galway who told us how this particular spider is the only species in Ireland capable biting people and inflicting wounds that have to be treated by a doctor:
