There was a huge reaction to this topic on Dublin Talks today - are we a city of housing begrudgers? Simon got in touch with the show - he has worked and saved for 12 years to afford a property in Dublin and he finally managed to buy one in West Dublin. However, there are new houses being built in his area which are allocated for social housing.
Simon wanted to know "Why are these new houses going to people, most of whom haven't worked a day in their lives?".
We got a huge amount of callers on in a similar position to Simon who have worked and saved for mortgages and feel like people on social housing get them for nothing. However, we spoke to many callers who are receiving social welfare and who don't see it as 'getting a house for nothing'.
