Who's name should you give to a baby?

We were contacted by a listener who's having some issues choosing a surname for their baby.

Herself and her partner are together but not married. She wants the baby to have her surname but the father wants them to have his.

Using a double-barrell is not an option as their names sound awful together.

Should babies traditionally be given their fathers name? Or have we now moved on from this?

We asked what you thought and opinions were mixed!

We also got onto the conversation about first names. Do you like yours? How did you get it?
