One Direction are reportedly planning a special project to celebrate their tenth anniversary.

The boyband will apparently mark the milestone later this year. The group was put together on The X Factor in July 2010.

Speaking to The Sun, Liam Payne revealed he's been chatting with his bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson.

“We've got a ten-year anniversary coming up so we've all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks which has been really nice.

“To hear a lot of people's voices and seeing old content and different things that we haven't seen for a long time or never seen before, it's very interesting.

“At the moment I'm not sure what I'm allowed to say.

“There's a number of different things that we are all working on to try and make happen and people are forwarding emails around.

“But more than anything it's just been a real good time for us to connect together again.”

However, Liam didn't reveal whether Zayn Malik, who left the band in 2015, would be involved.

New Music?

Meanwhile, Page Six reports that a tour has been ruled out but a TV special or a new single could be on the cards.

A source close to one of the singer's management teams told the publication:

"There’s still a long way to go and a lot of hurdles. Obviously, at the moment anything they do would have to be done virtually.

“But there’s a lot of goodwill between them now and they want to make something happen.”

One Direction sold more than 50 million records worldwide. The band went on hiatus four years ago.
