Troy Parrott is set to miss the European under-17 Championships.  The attacker was stretchered off after suffering a leg injury while playing for Tottenham's under-23s against Derby last night.

Parrott has tweeted to say a scan has shown 'no broken bones' and that he hopes to 'be back soon'.

"Very important win last night, the boys were excellent, thankfully the X-ray went well and there’s no broken bones... I’ll be back soon."

The injury is a blow to Ireland under-17 boss Colin O'Brien who had been in talks with Spurs about releasing the forward to play in the European Championships.

O'Brien will now plan without Parrott as he makes the final pick for his squad ahead of Friday's Group A opener against Greece.

Parrott is also a doubt for the under-19s European Championships in Armenia this July while under-21 boss Stephen Kenny was also expected to call up the teenager for the Toulon tournament this summer.
