Work Starts on DIT "Mega" Campus

Work has officially begun on a new home for DIT.

All the Institute's separate buildings will be moved to a "mega" campus in Grangegorman in 2017.

The €26M project will create 250 construction jobs.

Work is already underway on some of the buildings on campus with the first 1000 students due through the door in September 2014.

DIT President Brian Norton says once finished, the new campus will be better for students and staff.

The campus will also have a primary care centre and community nursing unit as well as a new community library for residents in the area.

It already houses the Phoenix Care centre which was opened back in February.
