Gardaí have closed the Wooden Bridge at Bull Island in Dublin to motorists until Monday.

Residents may drive over it but access will be limited to just locals, pedestrians and cyclists.

Businesse owners based in the area will also be permitted to drive on the bridge.

Wooden Bridge Was A Safety Concern:

Local Councillor Donna Cooney says the number of cars on it in the past while made it a safety concern:

"I had been in touch with Dublin Port Company, who have put up some signage in relation to physical distancing on the bridge."

"The Guards made the decision because they've been down there time and time again."

"They were down there last Sunday and a number of times across the week."

"Last night it was particularly bad, there was cars basically head to head on the bridge."

The bridge can be accessed by nearby Public Transport using Dublin Bus Route 130, to see the timetable click here.
