A status yellow rainfall weather warning is now in place for 11 counties.
The areas affected include Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Cavan and Monaghan.
Heavy rain is due throughout the day, with up to 35 millimetres expected to fall.
The warning is valid from 7am this morning until 6am tomorrow morning.
