Water restrictions will be put in place across Dublin from tonight as engineers work to fix a treatment problem at one of the city's main water plants.

The capital's four local authorities say householders may experience a loss in pressure or in some cases a loss of supply, but Dublin City council is reassuring people that their is no problem with the quality or safety of their drinking water.

Dublin City Council Engineer, Michael Philips, says restrictions will run from 8pm to 7am each night until Monday at least - affecting householders in all local authority areas across the capital:
