Virgin Media customers in Ireland are losing a number of channels.

The UKTV Group say the media company wanted to pay "significantly less" for their channels.

The change means channels such as Dave, Gold, W, Alibi, Home, Good Food and Really have been taken off Virgin's channel list.

However, Virgin Media say they are introducing four new channels for customers.

CBS Reality, CBS Action, Horror Channel and CBS Drama are now available on the platform.

A statement from Virgin Media said "Virgin Media worked hard to get a deal for our customers with UKTV. Sadly we couldn’t reach an agreement and have to say goodbye. To mimimise disruption, we have introduced the 4 new CBS channels -  CBS Drama, CBS Reality, CBS Action and the Horror Channel.

UKTV's were among our least viewed channels. Our customers will be able to keep enjoying our great range of content ahead of our Virgin Media Sport channel launch."
