The victims of the balcony collapse disaster in Berkeley, California have been named at a press conference, they are

Ashley Donohoe, 22, Rohnert Park, California
Olivia Burke, 21, Ireland
Eoghan Culligan, 21, Ireland

All the deceased Irish students were from south Dublin, Olivia Burke and Eimear Walsh were from Foxrock, while Irish-American Ashley Donohoe was a cousin of one of the girls.

Some of the students had been going to UCD and DIT.

Books of Condolence are being opened at UCD and County Hall in Dun Laoghaire today, and at the Mansion House tomorrow.

At least 7 others were injured in the accident at the apartment complex.

They're being treated at a number of different hospitals where two are critical and two have life changing injuries.

The first of the victims' families have begun arriving in the US.

Flags are flying at half mast over public buildings across Ireland today as a mark of respect.

UCD President Andrew Deeks has released a statement on behalf of the university.

He's said it is "heart-breaking to imagine that such a tragedy would strike these wonderful students when their lives are opening up to discover the world."

St Mary's Past Pupil Union have expressed sympathies via social media to 2012 graduates from the Rathmines school involved in the tragedy.

Yesterday the City of Berkeley ordered a structural assessment of the building's remaining balconies to be completed within 48 hours.
