Varadkar Unhappy With State Of Emergency Departments

The Health Minister says he's unhappy with the progress they've made so far on the overcrowding crisis in emergency departments.

Over 400 people were waiting on trolleys in hospitals this week.

That's despite new measures being put in place by the Department of Health, including the funding of 500 transitional care beds in January, and a further 250 beds funded in February.

Minister Leo Varadker says this crisis is a result of years of budget cuts:
