The issue of rickshaws will top the agenda when the Oireachtas Transport Committee meets later.
Transport Minister Shane Ross is due to update TDs and Senators about what plans are being put in place to regulate the night time industry.
There are suggestions they cycle-powered taxis could be banned altogether.
Chair of Dublin City Council's Transport Committee, Ciaran Cuffe, says the situation in Dublin is getting out of control.
"They appear not to have any insurance. There's documented evidence that they are crashing into cars and that they are tumbling over with two or three passengers in them."
