Up To 1150 Jobs Announced For Dublin

Amazon Web Services is announcing a massive jobs boost for Dublin.

The tech giant is a branch of Amazon and is opening a new HQ for its cloud computing business on Burlington Road with the creation of a thousand jobs.

"The new roles currently include Software Development Engineers, Network Development Engineers, Data Centre Engineers, Support Engineers, Solutions Architects, Systems Engineers, Optical Deployment Engineers, Security Specialists, Big Data Specialists, DevOps Engineers, and a range of technical management positions for both Amazon and Amazon Web Services."

Country Leader for Ireland Mike Beary says recruitment is already underway and they hope to fill all the roles within the next two years.

Meanwhile Vodafone is creating 50 jobs. It's looking for people to join its international digital sales team at its base in Carrickmines.

Elsewhere, a joint venture between Accenture and Microsoft has launched in Ireland.

Avanade is aiming to create 100 jobs over the next year, depending on demand, in areas like cloud computing and AI.
