Two Italian men have been charged in connection with the attack on an Irish man before Liverpool's Champions League match on Tuesday.
53-year-old Sean Cox from Dunboyne in Co Meath remains in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a serious head injury.
20-year-old Filippo Lombardi has been charged with violent disorder and wounding or inflicting grievous bodily harm.
29-year-old Daniele Sciusco has been charged with violent disorder.
Both men have been kept in custody, and will appear at South Sefton Magistrates Court this morning.
