The Irish music industry is coming to terms with the death of Electric Picnic founder John Reynolds.

The concert promoter has died suddenly at the age of 52.

He worked with Boyzone in their early days and set up the popular POD nightclub on Harcourt Street in the 90s.

His family say the Metropolis festival, which he was promoting, will go ahead this weekend in Dublin.

Broadcaster and musician Tom Dunne knew John Reynolds for many years:

"Its a very sad loss I always loved bumping into him he always seemed to have another story to tell you just that wild passion for music."

"I loved comparing notes with him he was a man you were always happy to meet."
