A number of traveller families are seeking compensation over the airports plans to build a second runway.
Up to 14 families based at Collinstown are to be moved from land owned by airport authorities, many of which have lived at the site for thirty years.
According to the Sunday Times, the families are seeking sums ranging between €100,000 and €800,000 to move.
The original lease agreement for the site ended in 2007. Since then, a yearly lease was put in place, with airport authorities now asking that the land be vacated.
Fine Gael Councillor for West Dublin, Kieran Dennison says money should be put towards housing for the families.
"If compensation is being provided, then do the families involved qualify for social housing, or should we not be using that money for proper housing.
"I'm calling for the Council to provide social housing for the families, and if necessary that be group housing."
Fingal County Council has stated that an alternative site is being sought at Coolquay.
