One of Ireland's best loved DJs, Tony Fenton has died.

The Today fm presenter passed away at the age of 53 after losing his battle with cancer this morning.

Tony has been entertaining radio listeners for almost 4 decades.

He grew up in Glasnevin where he knew from a young age that he wanted to be a dj.

His broadcasting career started at a variety of pirate stations before he joined 2fm in the 80s.

It was there that he became a household name with his popular show the Hotline putting him on the map.

His friend Dave Fanning says he was one of the best in the business..

Tony joined Today fm in 2004 where he has remained ever since, interviewing bands, playing new singles and bringing his love of music to fans.

And just last year, he was inducted into the PPI Radio Awards Hall of Fame.

Tony Fenton will be sorely missed by all of his family, friends, colleagues and listeners alike.
