Over 10 thousand people have signed a petition calling for more affordable student accommodation.
It was set up after a privately-owned complex near DCU increased its rent prices by up to 27% for the next academic year.
Shanowen Square plans to charge just under 8 thousand 700 euro for a student to live there for the academic year from this September.
In an open letter, DCU Student's Union has called on the complex along with others to reconsider raising their rates.
