Irish citizens who died at war or on duty with the United Nations will be honoured around the country today.
The fallen servicemen and women will be given full honours as the Taoiseach, President and Council of State will be among those paying tribute.
The highlight of the National Day of Commemoration will take place at the Royal Hospital at Kilmainham in Dublin, where a wreath will be laid by Michael D Higgins after a multi-faith prayer service.
