Dublin City Council has refused to confirm reports its holding crunch talks at 3pm today - aimed at salvaging the Garth Brooks fiasco.

The Lord Mayor says some residents living near Croke Park have contacted the US Embassy asking the US President Barack Obama to intervene in the Garth Brooks' debacle.

Christy Burke says they would like Mr. Obama to speak with the country star and try and convince him to perform at Croke Park.

Last night the Taoiseach intervened in the controversy and urged the City Manager and the Lord Mayor to meet with the Chief Executive of the Labour Relations Commission today to try and see if all five Croke Park concerts can be salvaged.

Enda Kenny has ruled out introducing emergency legislation but Mr. Burke says there's still a possibility Dublin City Manager Owen Keegan could review the conditions of the licensing agreement.

He says the Mexican Ambassador to Ireland has also been in contact with his office.

Meanwhile fresh talks are due to take place today to see if Garth Brooks can perform at Croke Park in just over 2 weeks time.

The government is said to be keen to seek a positive outcome to the Brooks debacle after the country singer said in a letter yesterday that he would play all 5 gigs if the power that be can fix this.

Promoter Peter Aiken says Croke Park is the only place for the shows..

Meanwhile ticket refunds will start on Tuesday and Garth himself is giving a press conference this evening to announced a world tour.
