Housing activists 'Take Back The City' are holding a demonstration at the offices of Airbnb in Dublin's Docklands.
They say it's to coincide with Ireland's largest architecture festival taking place across Dublin this weekend.
The activists claim they are occupying the building in protest against Airbnb's impact on the housing crisis.
Conor from 'Take Back The City' explains why they choose the location:
"Platforms like Airbnb have exacerbated the crisis and it also drives rents up by constricting the market so we went there today to protest Airbnb's role in this crisis."
'Take Back The City's" demand in relation to Airbnb is:
- A total ban on airbnb and short-term letting platforms in the city; regulation has failed in other cities, we need only to look at Amsterdam or Berlin to realise this. A total ban is the only way of reversing the effect of short-term letting on our crisis.
