It might well be the match made in heaven: the owner of Supermacs is considering buying out Copper Face Jacks.

The Sunday Business Post reports Pat McDonagh is looking into buying the Jackson Court Hotel on Harcourt Street along with its infamous nightclub.

Owner Cathal Jackson put it on the market last week -- it's believed it may sell for as much as €40 million.

The club's operating company raked in a cool €4 million last year -- and Jackson and his wife Paula were able to pay themselves a dividend of €1.2 million.

Pat McDonagh said: "it has a special place in a lot of relationships, especially for those from the rural community," adding that his daughter met her husband there.

Opened in 1996, the club has become a fixture in the media and Ireland's cultural imagination.
