With Storm Callum expected to hit around midnight tonight, officials are concerned that some schools may not open tomorrow due to storm damage.
A meeting of the National Emergency Coordination Group has been called, and these key agencies are expected to meet in Dublin today at 3PM.
Full impact of Storm Callum will not be known until tomorrow morning, following overnight 100 - 130km/h winds which are expected. Along with a spell of heavy rain and high tides, there is a risk of coastal flooding and damage.
The orange warning has been put in place by Met Eireann for Dublin and 12 other coastal Counties from 10PM tonight (Thursday) until 9AM on Friday morning.
