The parents of Savita Halappanavar have said they're "really, really happy" that Ireland has voted to repeal the 8th amendment.

The death of the 31 year old in Galway in 2012 was seen as the catalyst in renewed campaign to scrap our abortion laws.

She died in hospital after asking for an abortion once she realised she was miscarrying at four months.

Savita's father has told The Irish Times he wants the legislation which gives effect to the referendum result to be called 'Savita's Law.'
