It's emerged gardai were called to deal with a second wave of trouble in Tallaght at the weekend.

Nine men have been charged in connection with the looting and destruction of a Lidl in Citywest, and damage to a Centra in Jobstown, on Friday.

According to The Irish Times, stations received hoax calls from the Fortunestown Way and Jobstown areas.

When officers went to investigate, stolen 4x4s were raced through the snow, but Gardai decided not to take the bait.

A source has told the paper they believe gang were trying to check garda response times and how many detectives were in the area.

The riot squad was put on standby but wasn't needed in the end.
