Residents of a senior citizens complex just off Cork Street say they need better security following three murders in recent years.

Three men have been violently killed at Robinson's Court since 2006 including a wheelchair user.

The older residents say there have been break ins recently and they need better security gates for their safety, among other measures.

30 residents live there and there are concerns about how easy it is for other people to access the building.

75 year old woman Sarah Cullen she's frightened to live in the area after a man broke into her apartment:  'I was sitting in the kitchen when I seen him. I said get away from my door. He said do you have money and I said I have no money. He walked in on top of me and 'I've no money' I told him. He was still there and I told him I was ringing the police.  He went to hit my neighbour across the way with a can of beer.''

''He said he will burn down our houses. I am frightened. We need extra security at night and more police around.''

Local councillor Márie Devine says the residents are terrified:

''Three murders in that small complex. There is constant harassments, threats, assaults and burglaries on our elderly by guys looking for money or any valuables they can lift.''
