There's a renewed appeal for information about a violent sexual assault in Clondalkin last year.

A woman was targeted as she was walking with her bike in the early hours of the morning along the Lucan Newlands Road.

Up to three men were involved in the shocking assault at around 3.05am on Thursday the 28th of July 2016.

The victim was dragged into a secluded area and subjected to an attack which lasted up to 15 minutes.

The next day two male teens were arrested in Ronanstown but were later released without charge.

Now Gardai and Crimestoppers have renewed their appeal for witnesses or anyone who may have information.

It's believed the three men may have been in the area for some time before the attack, so they're particularly interested to speak to anyone who noticed them, or noticed suspicious activity on the Lucan Newlands Road between 1 and 3.30am.

Officers say even the smallest peice of information might help their investigation.

Detective Inspector Mark O’Neill from Lucan Garda Station says "the local community was very helpful to our investigation when this crime was first reported. We are now asking people to come forward with any information at all they have. Even the smallest piece of information, which may seem insignificant, might help with the investigation. It is important for the safety of the community that we identify and bring these individuals to justice.”

"If a member of the public prefers to give the information without identifying themselves, they can call Crimestoppers on 1800 25 00 25.”
