On Tuesday next Ministers have to decide what to do on same-sex marriage.

This is in order to meet the deadline to respond to the constitutional convention which has recommended a referendum to allow for gay-marriage.

Labour's pushing for a referendum in the lifetime of the coalition, and has suggested 2015 as the best time.

Fine Gael will agree to a referendum, but the party has no official position, and the Taoiseach himself has refused to show his hand so far.

However the Taoiseach says he'll outline his position on gay-marriage on Tuesday.

That's when the Cabinet will decide when a referendum on the issue will be held.
