A group holding graphic anti-abortion banners have held another protest outside the Rotunda Hospital.

The Irish Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform has been displaying the images of foetuses and embryos.

The Rotunda tweeted to say yesterday evening's incident was despite maternity chiefs asking them to stop.

The group Radical Queers Resist has tried to block the posters by countering the pro-life picket.

"We just decided that we weren't content for this to go on on our streets, for them to have these images which are harmful and distressing outside maternity hospitals. Women going in might be getting diagnoses of Fatal Foetal Abnormalities, they might be going through miscarriages, they might be going through unwanted pregnancies or through wanted pregnancies. It's all quite distressing to see these images when you're going through things."

Earlier this week, Dr Jean Engela from the Irish Centre for Bio-ethical Reform said they felt they should doing more protesting at venues such as maternity hospitals, rather than less.

The centre believes that women should see what their pregnancies look like "and if medical professionals inside their facilities refuse to show them, then they're left with no choice but to" erect their 7-and-a-half foot posters.
