The pope could visit Mountjoy Prison when he comes to Ireland this summer.
According to The Irish Sun the possibility gardai have already made security plans for the 81 year old's potential visit and the possibilty has been raised with the office of Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
The paper also claims Pope Francis will appear at a special event at Croke Park on the 25th of August before heading to the Phoenix Park.
The Irish Prison Service says its aware of the the pontiff's upcoming visit.
No formal application has been made but stands ready to assist if required.
