Tallaght Town Centre is set to get a face lift.

A new local area plan has been revealed that will involve the development of the area over the next six years.

As part of the plan, there will be a number of schemes delivered including:

  • The development of Tallaght Stadium’s fourth stand
  • The redevelopment and enhancement of the Square Shopping Centre
  • Enhanced bus services across the centre
  • New schools
  • Cycling and pedestrian infrastructure links

There are also plans for thousands of new homes at different locations in the area.

Local Consultation

Local Councillor Charlie O'Connor is Chairman of Tallaght Area Committee.

He said, "Tallaght is a different place than it was when it developed 50 years ago, and it's important that these changes are taken into account."

He added, "It's important that we remember that Tallaght should be a place where we all work and play."

Deputy Mayor of South Dublin County Council Trevor Gilligan has also welcomed the proposals.

He wants the local community to get involved.

He said, "It's only at public consultation state, this is your plan so make sure you make a submission, get involved if you're in a community group or a residents association."

People can view the plans at https://consult.sdublincoco.ie/.

The consultation process is open now until Thursday October 24th.
