A newborn baby girl remains in hospital in Dublin this morning following a suspected assault.
It happened on Monday, with details just emerging now.
The baby girl in question remains in Temple Street Children's Hospital after receiving severe head injuries believed to be caused by a suspected assault.
The incident happened in Galway on Monday 30th of March, when the infant was just 6 weeks old.
She was rushed to University Hopital Galway but was later transferred to Temple Street Childrens Hospital.
A man in his twenties was taken in for questioning in relation to the incident on the day it occurred, but was subsequently released without charge.
A file is now being prepared for the DPP.
